Stella Care is a family run company located in Torquay, Devon.        Established in 2015 by a family that wanted to provide quality care with dignity and respect to their customers. We deliver excellent care and support to our clients regardless of age or specific medical needs.

Our care management team is highly experienced and have many years of knowledge and experience in delivering exceptional care and support for clients.

We understand that working in care can be a demanding but very rewarding job. Our office team and manager have been with us from the beginning and all work in the community alongside the carers.

Nicky joined us in 2018. She is a fun and supportive leader of our team. Nicky started her career as a carer over 30 years ago, she has a background in health and social care training, dementia and learning disabilities. Nicky holds many qualifications including Level 4 in health and social care management.

Chloe joined us in November 2018 as a community carer.
Chloe is now a much loved Team Leader at Stella Care and is always in high demand.
Chloe is currently undertaking her Lead adult care worker Level 3 diploma.

Lucy is a very passionate, motivated and caring member of our team.

Lucy joined Stella Care in April 2018 as a care worker and has since been promoted from team leader to senior lead. Lucy has been in the care sector since leaving school 20 years ago.

Paula is loyal, dedicated and versatile member of our team . Paula joined Stella Care in June 2016 as an admin assistant. Paula started her career nearly 30 years ago in care and support for learning disabilities and elderly care.

Helen joined Stella Care in October 2019 as our Finance coordinator.  Helen is a hard-working, dedicated member of our team, it’s best to call Helen after her lunch or bring her cake.  Helen has a ACCA qualification in finance & has worked in the care sector for 20 years.  Helen is our Finance Officer & Care Coordinator

Our proud history

In October 2015, at the start of our business journey, my husband Michael and I – Jody, met another like minded couple who wanted to create the same thing. We all wanted a high quality care company that provides carers who care with a passion, so we joined forces and became Stella Care Devon Ltd.

At first, our company was located in a small office within the indoor market at Torquay’s Market street. From there, we provided care staff to local care homes within the Torbay and Teignbridge area on an agency basis.

We had a good start and quickly gained a good , friendly reputation with the local care homes, but at the same time we knew the demand for care was far greater, we knew people needed care in their own private homes.

In July 2017 we registered with the Care Quality Commission. With our new licence, we could now provide care to people in their own homes and one-to-one private care to people living in assisted accommodation.

In 2018 we hired our registered manager Nicky Hopkins – who is still our manager today, along with her trusted, professional office team. Most of them have been part of the company for years.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit us all in 2020, access to local care homes became restricted, so we focused on providing quality care to those who needed help in their own homes.

In June 2022, we outgrew our small office. Our ever-growing team needed more space and a more accessible location, so we made a move to a larger property on Lucius street in Torquay where you can find our office today.

From August 2022, Stella Care Devon has mainly been run by Jody with help from her highly trusted team, after two original business partners relocated away from Devon, selling their share to Jody and Michael. Today, Stella Care Devon is a family run business with the same ethos as always – to look after our carers, so that in turn, they provide excellent care to our clients.

Our aim is to provide our team members with ongoing support and to continuously appreciate their hard work and dedication. With the view that this creates a strong, happy, and caring team that provides our customers with a service that is delivered in a responsible manner looking after the well-being of everyone we care for.
